Springs – One-off and small batches

Spring making to replace missing and broken springs for Hobbs detector locks. Made from hardened and tempered carbon spring steel.

Two tiny keys for two miniature locks from a gentleman’s watch chain, both fully functioning.

Patio Prototype

This one-off sliding patio door lock was made as a prototype to proof the engineering drawings prior to production tooling being commissioned for mass production. It was then used for cycle and strength testing.

Turned and spun

This brass two-piece bezel was one of four reproduced to replace missing parts that hold the lamp shades onto the ornate lamp unit over the billiard table at a beautiful property associated with the arts and crafts movement.

Cylinder development

Starting with an existing double profile cylinder lock, the above unit was heavily modified to produce the “Avocet ABS anti snap BS TS007 Euro Cylinder” and help prevent the problem of criminals snapping the cylinder to gain entry.

Reproducing the past

There were three missing out of the four opening light pulleys in the picture. They were made for a listed building restoration project in London, with no original tooling being available. Using the surviving example on the right as a guide to the required dimensions, it and the three reproductions were then used in the restored building.

Production testing jigs

Electronic test and calibration jigs. Machined from Tufnol block and sheet to enable safe and easy testing of electronic units before being packaged for sale.

Restoring an antique ash pan

Fully restored using original parts where possible and assembled using soft iron rivets. This historic ash pan now serves its original purpose under the log basket in a large house in Bridgenorth. Complete with hand forged extraction tool.

Heritage keys

Unavailable blanks made and cut to the lock or original keys copied. This service can be done on a mail order basis or site visits can be arranged. The two keys on the left are copies for the one on the right. Made for an iconic stately home.

Production drilling jigs

This set of four drilling jigs was produced to suite four different extruded sections and are used to drill the fixing holes in any length of the bolt section required.

Production press tooling

The six punches and two die blocks in the picture are for punching part of the keyhole shape in cast brass lock cases. They are made from high carbon tool steel and then hardened and tempered to give long service.

Electronic production test jig

This jig was built to hold the mother and daughter electronic boards so that they could be tested and calibrated prior to insertion into the products plastic housing.

Restored clockwork meat jack

Used daily as part of a demonstration, this original clockwork meat jack was fully restored. The bearings were reset and a new center cord was made for the verge and crown mechanism. It is used to show how meat was often cooked in the Victorian era.
